In the near future, Major is the first of her kind: a human who is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world's most dangerous criminals. When terrorism reaches a new level that includes the ability to hack into people's minds and control them, Major is uniquely qualified to stop it. As she prepares to face a new enemy, Major discovers that her life was stolen instead of saved. Now, she will stop at nothing to recover her past while punishing those who did this to her.

Ghost in the Shell isn’t exactly a bad film, but it’s hard to recommend. Anyone who’s a fan of the original will likely find this a disappointment, while anyone who hasn’t seen the anime would be better off watching that instead.

Unlike in the anime, this version of the Major is more of a renegade than a leader and cares far more about herself than her teammates. She spends a large chunk of the movie pitying herself.

I genuinely don't understand why this is so underrated. Yes, compared to the original anime, it loses some of the philosophical depth and deeper ideas, which is a fair criticism. But judging it as its own live-action adaptation, I think it does a lot right. The neon-soaked world, VFX, cinematography, and atmosphere are genuinely beautiful and immersive. The story may be more conventional than the original, but I found the experience engaging and visually stunning from start to finish.

Great visuals. Loved the little details in this sci fi movie like the 3D traffic markings etc. Relatively interesting story. The script is a little cheesy but it kind of embraces the cheesy goodness.

This movie is amazing. Is it as good as the original manga or anime? No. But this film has spectacular visuals and the storytelling is super intriguing and exciting. The themes of identity, self-discovery and revenge are portrayed nicely. Highly recommend.
