I both like and dislike this song at the same time.
The main reason I like it is that it serves as the opening theme for one of my favorite anime, Naruto Shippuden. Whenever I hear the opening seconds, I’m automatically reminded of that era of the show and the feeling of tuning in for a new episode. It has a light, optimistic, and fun energy, something that really reminds me of the vibe of the original Naruto series before the story took a much darker turn.

which conveys a sense of peace and friendship. I once came across an interesting comment claiming this is the only Naruto opening where Sasuke doesn't appear. I’m not sure if that’s actually true, but I found the idea amusing, especially since everyone looks so happy in this particular opening. Coincidence or not, it’s a fun detail.
The problem is that much of my fondness for the song stems from the opening sequence itself, rather than the music in isolation. When I listen to "Newsong" without watching the video, it loses a lot of its impact. Musically speaking, I find it quite simple; there isn't a moment that truly gives me goosebumps or gets stuck in my head for days. It’s a pleasant song, but also quite forgettable.
Another issue is the official music video. In reality, there isn't a proper video at all—it’s just a static black-and-white image of a landscape. That doesn't match the song's cheerful, positive energy in the slightest. While the Naruto opening brings the song to life with animation full of personality, the official video conveys a completely different vibe, ultimately making the experience much more lackluster.
When I compare it to other songs that have left a mark on my life, especially those I discovered through anime like Koi to Uso, the difference is clear. There are songs I keep listening to years later because they work perfectly on their own, independent of the series they appeared in. For me, "Newsong" isn't one of them. If it weren't a *Naruto* opening, I probably never would have sought it out to listen to it again.
Ultimately, I consider this an opening that works much better within the anime than as a standalone song. It effectively conveys a sense of hope, friendship, and tranquility, but outside of that context, it ends up being just an ordinary track.

Gosto e não gosto dessa música ao mesmo tempo.
O principal motivo de eu gostar dela é por ser a abertura de um dos meus animes favoritos, Naruto Shippuden. Sempre que escuto os primeiros segundos da música, automaticamente lembro daquela fase do anime e da sensação de acompanhar um novo episódio. Ela tem uma energia leve, otimista e divertida, algo que me faz lembrar bastante o clima do Naruto Clássico antes da história ficar muito mais pesada.
A animação da abertura também ajuda bastante. Ela mostra os personagens em momentos descontraídos, sorrindo, treinando e vivendo suas vidas, o que transmite uma sensação de paz e amizade. Existe até um comentário curioso que vi uma vez dizendo que essa seria a única abertura de Naruto em que o Sasuke não aparece. Não sei se essa informação é realmente verdadeira, mas achei engraçado pensar nisso, principalmente porque justamente nessa abertura todo mundo parece feliz. Coincidência ou não, é um detalhe divertido.
O problema é que boa parte do meu carinho por essa música vem da abertura em si, e não da música isoladamente. Quando escuto "Newsong" sem assistir ao vídeo, ela perde muito do impacto. Musicalmente falando, acho que ela é bastante simples e não tem nenhum momento que realmente me arrepie ou fique preso na cabeça por dias. É uma música agradável, mas também bastante esquecível.
Outro ponto que não ajuda é o videoclipe oficial. Na prática, nem existe um clipe de verdade: é apenas uma imagem em preto e branco parada mostrando uma paisagem. Isso não combina nem um pouco com a energia alegre e positiva da música. Enquanto a abertura de Naruto consegue dar vida à canção com uma animação cheia de personalidade, o vídeo oficial passa uma sensação completamente diferente e acaba tornando a experiência bem mais sem graça.
Quando comparo com outras músicas que marcaram minha vida, especialmente algumas que conheci através de animes como as de Koi to Uso, a diferença fica evidente. Existem canções que continuo ouvindo anos depois porque funcionam perfeitamente sozinhas, sem depender da obra em que apareceram. "Newsong", para mim, não é uma delas. Se ela não fosse uma abertura de Naruto, provavelmente eu nunca teria procurado ouvi-la novamente.
No fim das contas, considero essa uma abertura que funciona muito melhor dentro do anime do que como uma música independente. Ela cumpre bem o seu papel de transmitir um sentimento de esperança, amizade e tranquilidade, mas fora desse contexto acaba sendo apenas uma faixa comum.
